Everyday Places & Spaces is an initiative of the Campaign for Grade-Level Reading. The initiative is a coalition of organizations, institutions, and program leaders who share a commitment to evolving a less school-centric “whole community” approach to children’s learning by aligning with educational professionals to develop an ecosystem of out-of-school learning-rich environments where families connect to high-quality programs that offer high-dosage tutoring, summer learning supports and other structured and unstructured learning-rich opportunities that support a child’s ability to read on grade level. The leaders and entrepreneurs of the Everyday Places & Spaces coalition have joined forces to ensure these learning-rich environments are accessible to children from economically challenged, fragile and otherwise marginalized families.
The Campaign for Grade-Level Reading (CGLR) hosts and serves as the backbone organization of the Everyday Spaces & Places initiative. Consistent with its overall approach, CGLR, through referrals, gatherings, and business consultations, seeks to start with science, drive with data, learn from practice and practitioners, and respect the wisdom of proximity and lived experience.
